Pain Program

Pain has been associated with many disease conditions and significantly decreases patients’ quality of life. Testing in animal models is a critical step in the search for new analgesics with improved efficacy or side effect profiles. Our multidisciplinary scientific team will custom design each pain study to best meet our clients’ drug discovery research needs. Interpretive data analysis and a complete raw data set are provided in the final report to accelerate your decision making process.

Invivotek’s Pain Program offers the following assays/models to evaluate analgesic efficacy in vivo:

Thermal Pain
Hot Plate
Hargreave’s Tail Flick

Mechanical Pain
von Frey Tests

Chemically-induced Inflammatory Pain
Acetic Acid-induced Writhing Test
Carrageenan-induced Inflammation
Complete Freund’s Adjuvant Challenge
Formalin Pain Assay
Mechanical Pain
von Frey Test

Neuropathic Pain Models
Chronic Constrictive Injury (CCI) Model
Neuritis (Rat)
Partial Sciatic Nerve Ligation (PNL) Model
Tibial Nerve Transection (TNT) Model

We recommend an evaluation of locomotor activity in the Open Field and/or Rotarod test in conjunction with Pain Assays to discriminate decreased pain responses from potential motor impairments.
