Metabolic and Cardiovascular Assays

The Invivotek’s phenotyping program focuses on both energy homeostasis, glucohomeostasis and cardiovascular health. Energy homeostasis is measured by caloric intake, metabolic rate, body weight, body composition and physical activity. Glucohomeostasis is measured in blood glucose levels during glucose tolerance tests, insulin tolerance tests and additional chemistries. Cardiovascular health can also be assessed by blood pressure measurements and blood lipid chemistries.

Energy Homeostasis and Body Composition

All of the assays can be performed on regular and/or high fat diet
Longitudinal Body Weight Gain
Body Composition by DEXA:

  • Fat mass/ % fat/ lean mass/ % lean/ total tissue mass/ tissue area
  • Bone Mineral Density and Content/ bone area

Assessment of Regional Adipose Depots
Aipocyte tissue macrophage measurement by FACS
Food Intake
Metabolic Parameters and Activity in CCMS:

  • O2 Consumption/ CO2 Production/ Respiratory Exchange Ratio (RER)
  • Total Horizontal / Ambulatory/ Non-ambulatory/ Vertical Activity
